![]() You find out about each of the character’s backstories and why they became a member of the Foxes exy team. The best thing about this book is that it leaves no story untold. Every character in this book has a story to tell, and each one is as brutal and horrific as the last. This book is incredible and I completely understand why people rave about it. After 8 years he’s finally found a place where he feels he belongs: should he stay or should he go? Review ![]() Neil has to come to the decision on whether or not this Exy Team is worth risking his life for. One of the members of the Exy team happens to be an old friend and he can’t leave him behind again. The lies he tells others can only withstand the strain of time and his other team members for so long, before his truths can be discovered he plans to move onto his next destination. Unfortunately, this leaves Neil at a disadvantage as he could easily be tracked down by the his father and killed if he were to discover it was him. This Exy team is often a part of live broadcasts meaning hiding from the sports news channels was an impossibility. Neil knew the risks of joining PSU Foxes but initially had no choice but to accept the offer. However, joining PSU’s Exy team takes him down an unsure path and one that lacks escape routes. After being on the run for the majority of his life, he’s used to moving from place to place on short notice. His upbringing has been far from simple as he is the son of the murderous crime lord known as ‘The Butcher’. I’m still asking myself this question. The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic follows the story of Neil Josten who becomes a member of Palmetto State University’s (PSU Foxes) Exy team. Which begs the question: did Nicky climb into bed with Neil after Andrew left? If Andrew hadn’t allowed it, would Nicky really risk that just to get a little cuddle time with the cute new freshman? What in the world is Nicky Hemmick doing in that bed, instead of in a chair nearby? There is no logical reason for them to be spooning, especially none that doesn’t make Nicky seem opportunistic at best and a creepy idiot at worst. Like Neil or not- trust him or not- he wouldn’t risk putting him or anyone in the same position Andrew’s abusers did. It would remind him too much of what happened to him as a kid. I still think the trigger scenario of anyone having their arms around an unconscious person who didn’t consent first would be a hard no for him as the orchestrator of this whole scenario. So I cannot imagine he allowed the two of them to sleep in the same bed, even if Nicky doesn’t actually follow through on any of his dub-con flirting besides just that: flirting. And Andrew seems to know Nicky’s inappropriate advances and handsiness are a common thing with him. We don’t know Andrew’s history at this point in the books yet, but we’ve seen how he reacts to being woken up, by physically lashing out to protect himself and hurt whoever’s touching him. But I feel like Nicky snuggling full-body up to an unconscious Neil would set off all of Andrew’s alarm bells (the ones that cause him to do things like threaten Nicky with a knife for making a rape joke). He’s willing to drug Neil defenseless despite his own experience with what it’s like to be rendered helpless in the presence of a threat. Two: Despite probably being interested in Neil in a detached sort of way, Andrew has not granted Neil any form of protection yet.īut even though Andrew’s not actively protecting Neil (or even trusting him) yet, I read those lines and thought to myself that Nicky must have cuddled up to Neil after Andrew left to get brunch, because there’s no way Andrew would be okay with that.Īndrew’s pretty ruthless in the scenes before this. One: Nicky, despite his penchant for inappropriate jokes about making advances on people without consent, is not a sexual predator. ![]() Now there are a couple things we’ve already established at this point in the series. (The arms in question are later revealed to be Nicky’s.) Neil woke up in a bed he didn’t recognize in an equally unfamiliar room…The weight of arms around him was one his body knew, but somehow it was confusing. :) As I began Chapter 8 of The Foxhole Court, this quote caught my attention: My reread of the All For the Game series continues apace- and with it comes text posts.
